Mijn dromen en ambities

Creating is my largest passion. Whether that is building a store, creating a concept or preparing a festive meal. As long as it turns a smile on your face when the creation is ready. My natural communication and kineasthetic skills are very well developed. I take initiative and am very driven to deliver my work in time at the highest possible level.
I can offer you my passion for retail design, my knowledge of project management, my enthusiastic and flexible individuality and my inquisitiveness.

Work Experience
April 2013 – present Eudia
Eudia is millinery based in The Hague and Amsterdam who designs and creates hats and fascinator. Within Eudia, The Hague I am responsible for the window display. Further I assist in the atelier and sales area.

July 2013 – present Notafraidofbutter
Notafraidofbutter.nl is a Dutch foodblog on which I share my experience in my own kitchen and during internships in professional restaurants. I create recipes and share my favorite recipes from others. Also documentaries and movies about food are discussed.
For Notafraidofbutter I also cater parties and lunches on location.

January 2012 – May 2013 URBN UK Ltd
URBN UK is part of Urban Outfitters, Inc. and is an innovative specialty retail company which offers a variety of lifestyle merchandise to highly defined customer niches through Urban Outfitters stores in the United States, Canada, and Europe, catalogs and websites
Within the role of development manager I am responsible for the management of the design and documentation process for three of the Urban Outfitters, Inc. brands –Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie and Free People– both in Europe as in North America. Leading the Design Review Meeting process, and ensuring that designers, construction managers, operations, general contractors, architects and MEP consultants are meeting DRM process milestones, is a key element of my work. Besides that, I manage construction document content for all assigned projects. Furthermore, I monitor and manage all permit acquisition for assigned projects in coordination with the Land lord our Architects and pre-development team.
I am responsible to identify potential cost savings pitfalls, construction best-practice means and methods, and value engineering opportunities, while preserving the design intent for the project.
Projects can vary from 400 to 1500 m2

April 2010 – December 2011 WE Fashion, Utrecht
WE Fashion is an international Retail Company with over 240 mono brand stores in Europe.
Being a part of Retail Operations I was as the manager Store Design responsible for the store lay out of all new stores and refurbishments of existing stores. This was done within the set budget and planning and together with my team of interior architects and draftsmen. In the design process I aligned sales, visual merchandise and the marketing department as well as the project managers to assure all key elements had been discussed prior to construction start.
I also was the owner of the current store concept designed by Wonderwall from Japan.
Prior to the design process I had an advising role in the real estate committee.

October 2008 - March 2010: G-Star International, Amsterdam
G-Star is an international Retail company with a strong focus on raw denim. It has over 6000 selling points over the world consisting mono brand stores, shop in shops and outlets. Within the department Interiors I have worked as a project manager. Within this role I was responsible for the coordination of all architectural activities for the G-Star stores in Europe.
Almost all mono brand stores are in cooperation with a franchisee partner. Outlet stores are G-star owned and take a more extensive participation in the construction phase. The setup of a tender and compiling building specification for all local building activities is part of this. Within the design phase my role was to manage the design team of G-Star and communicate the design with the franchise partner. Also keeping design within budget and planning is a key element of this role.
During construction I had to have an intensive supervision from a distance and to a lesser extent on location of local project management. During Fit Out I supervised on location either a Dutch or local team.
Part of the role was also taking care of actual costs and after sales after the store had opened.

June 2005-September 2008: Scala Architects, The Hague
Scala Architects is a medium sized office and part of the Council for European Urbanism,
Working with Scala Architects I have been involved in the following projects.
As a project supervisor I have designed a Project Linné Oost in Amsterdam that consisted of two apartment buildings and several family houses.
I had a coordinating role from preliminary design to final design including surveillance of budget and attainability together with our external advisors.
For two projects in Vleuterweide, a new suburb of Leidsche Rijn, Utrecht I was responsible for coordinating the design team from preliminary design to final execution. Both projects involved family houses and medium sized apartments. Taking care of planning and budget and maintain contact with clients, construction companies, local authorities and builders was part of this role.
For a Care home for elderly (also designed by Scala Architects) I have been taking care of the Interior design and furnishing advice The care home consisted of 5 apartments each with a living room, 6 private rooms, and several guestrooms.
As an assistant designer I have been part of the design team for a project in the suburb Brandevoort, Helmond during the early stages of the project. The project consisted of several apartments and family houses.
I have assisted during design and draft for a project in the new developed area Parijsch, Culemborg containing an apartment building with parking facilities and a common garden.

June 2002- February 2003: Vis Restoration Architects, The Hague
Vis Restoration Architects specializes in restoration, renovation and combinations with new buildings. I completed my Internship and have been an assistant designer of several projects.

Other Activities
July 2002- May 2003 Study trip to China Grid City Tour III, Beijing-Shanghai-Hong Kong. Linked to this a leading role in the organisation of an associated exhibition at the faculty of Architecture, Technical University Delft

May 2000- December 2000 Editor of the ‘Delftsche Studenten Almanak’
Together with five other editors I developed a yearbook of 576 pages and a circulation of 2350 pieces for my student sorority with a budget of €50.000.
